*The Intimacy Movement Manifesto
I would like to clarify, I am not starting a cult, nor do I want to! Navigating the world of “wellness practices” can feel like tiptoeing on a wobbly line. I want to share with you the essence of the Intimacy Movement, without any smoke and mirrors. I get it, trust is earned, not given, and life’s a mixed bag of cautionary tales.
We aren’t living in a utopia where you’d cozy up to everyone on the bus — seriously, no one wants that. It’s crucial to exercise judgment, though I’m all about encouraging a judgment-free zone. Here’s the catch: trust your gut. Intuition is our compass in this journey. Feeling at ease with someone before inviting them into your physical, emotional and energetic space is important.
Openness, trust, vulnerability, closeness and honesty are the pillars of Intimacy. They’re not just buzzwords; they’re the foundation for building meaningful connections.
So, here’s my warm invitation to you to join the Intimacy Movement:
Connect: Sign up for the mailing list so you know about upcoming events like “Beyond the Surface” as well as new projects (podcasts or new decks). As I fine-tune events and develop new tools, I want you to have your opportunity to be a part of it!
Imagine a New Normal: Initiate conversations… not only those sparked by the Intimacy Cards and the like, but also about the essence and nature of intimacy itself. Not only will this help you embrace vulnerability but you’ll question what it is that might be holding you back from being closer to the people around you.
Let’s break free from the digital cocoon: For those of you who have the deck of Intimacy Cards, open them up and play with your friends, strangers and your partners! Intimacy isn’t just for couples. We can all benefit from having closer connections on multiple levels. Face to face. Having fun but also with the intention of holding space for each other.
The Intimacy Movement is here to cultivate a sense of belonging, especially for those who often grapple with loneliness or have difficulty making connections.
Let’s expand our inner circles. Challenge yourself to step beyond comfort zones, to reveal your authentic self and be embraced by those who truly see you. It’s possible to make new friends throughout your entire life.
Let yourself be surprised. Discover how platonic physical intimacy can be a trust-building force.
Let’s expand our definitions of intimacy. Let’s spread the ideas of Energetic Intimacy and reshape our world with these transformative connections.
Thanks for reading this all!
Much love, Sharlene Durfey François
